The Practitioner

Hi, my name is Aruna Radhika Singh. I am a movement-based bodyworker and I help people in returning to their primary homes – their bodies.

I am a woman of Indian ancestry and coming from a migrant family, I have lived on many lands. I now live and work on Tarndanya, the traditional unceded land of the Kaurna meyunna (Kaurna people), now known as the Adelaide Plains.

I am a diversional therapist, a trauma-informed yoga teacher, an intuitive dancer, a hand-made jewellery maker and a lifetime ago I was a primary school teacher. I have also worked in graphic design, e-commerce and small business management – so I have worn many hats in my ever-evolving career. What I most enjoy is working with people and I love hands-on environments where connection to the senses is a consistent part of the process.

It has been through my own journey of experiencing and healing trauma from many facets of life, that I have come to a place of understanding the importance our bodies hold in our feeling whole and harnessing our sovereignty as human beings. It was through my own body’s experience of being frozen, being locked up from within the micro-musculature and nervous system of my body, that my path led me to researching and learning about the relationship between trauma and the body. And ultimately, this inquiry led me to intuiting an approach for allowing the body to speak, and to let it be heard.

I have always been a good listener. But over the years I have intentionally worked at developing this innate skill through deepening conscious listening, and the art of holding space. These skills serve me now, in what I do as a movement facilitator and conscious witness, in creating space for individuals to allow their spontaneous bodily expressions to come through in an embrace of non-judgement and compassionate awareness.

My work is informed by the works of many great researchers, therapists and authentic individuals who have dedicated their careers to helping people. I take great care to continually cultivate my awareness as new insights are made. Everything I share in my offerings are tools which I apply to myself, for there is no final destination to our learnings, everything is a journey constantly in motion.

“Being human is not about being any one particular way; it is about being as life creates you—with your own particular strengths and weaknesses, gifts and challenges, quirks and oddities.”
